Country as a bowl of grits...Not anymore!

I came across the Tennessee Tourism website awhile ago and find myself often looking back for inspiration. I never thought much about Tennessee past the Smoky Mountains and Country music but this site is an inspiring combination of original multimedia and incredibly interesting content. It's constantly being updated with design and handdrawn details that are on the Free People/Anthropologie level of genius. They even have a website for every season, Springtime is my favorite! So after delving into the site,  I have a seriously new found respect and intrigue for the "Volunteer State." Maybe I'll even join my brother on one of his trips to Gatlinburg someday. Maybe....

Pop the Bubbly

I recently discovered a new found love for expensive champagne. Maybe it was all the bubbly poppin at my wedding or just the cool skinny flute champagne comes in, but my how my taste has changed.  I will never be satisfied with Andre again after tasting the sweet nectar of Moet. The $39.99 for a bottle is well worth every drop. And as the left-leaning political commentator, Rachel Maddow once said " Always keep a bottle in the fridge, because you might need to celebrate at any moment." Now that's my kind of girl. Here's to you Rach.

One milllllion dollars

I heard a rumor that pepsi paid over $1 million dollars for their new logo which looks surprisingly just like the old one. They totally should have asked me, I definitely would have done it for under a mil. Way waaaaay under. Your loss Pepsi, hey coke, call me!

Dude, Where's the Hope?

I'm not sure if it's right to voice my political views on my work blog, but Obama's campaign is too full of creativity, forward thinking and design charisma not too. From apps for your iPhone to designer t-shirts (think zac posen and juicy couture), finally a refreshing and innovative look at branding a political figure, and basically branding in general.

Pretty Pretty Packaging

I don't think it's possible that packaging can get any prettier, cooler or more innovative than the things on thedieline.com. If you're a designer looking for inspiration or just a sucker for good packaging, look no further. Anyone that can make wine in a box look appealing is ok by me!

MY TOP 5 FAV's: Things I can walk to from work

I will be putting out "MY TOP 5 FAV'S" once every few weeks. This is my first edition and it's about my favorite things I can walk to from work. I work on Cedros Avenue in the Design District of Solana Beach. I must say, it's a rad place to work. And not too long ago, I landed the lucky job of redesigning the logo and the arches for this district. So, come check out my street and all the area has to offer especially my fav's...

1. Mabels - I love this clothing store!! Trendy and classic items fill this little cozy house. They also have a baby section where the must have is a Barefoot Dreams Baby Blanket.

2. Water's - A great place for lunch when you're on the go. The panini's and roasted vegetables are mouth "watering".

3. Station Sushi - This is where I first fell in love with raw fish. Great vibe, good music and the best sushi in town. Get the protein roll and the monkey stick.

4. The Brig - A great bar view of the race track and ocean that can't be beat. I always sit in the bar area and get the Marg Shaker and a fish taco.

5. Naked Cafe - A cute little bungalow over looking the ocean serving up healthy breakfast and lunch. Sides include unique things like cilantro quinoa and coconut bread.  They also have fresh squeezed juices like mandarin and lemonade (that go really well in mimosas).

Finally we start the blog...

I've been wanting to start a blog for a year now and we are finally getting around to it! Our blog will be filled with the most riveting, random and juicy info you've ever read. So check back soon and often for cool stuff to do, places to go, things to see, hilarious guest writers and of course design brilliance from around the world.
